Loan Rehabilitation

A borrower may rehabilitate a defaulted Federal Perkins Loan or NC State University Institutional Loan by making 9 consecutive, on-time payments. The amount of the payments during and after rehabilitation will be determined by an agreement between the borrower and NC State University.

Upon successful completion of rehabilitation, a borrower is returned to regular billing status and is subject to the terms, conditions and benefits of his or her original promissory note, including deferment and cancellation. Additionally, NC State University will request that credit agencies remove any derogatory information from the borrower’s credit history regarding the rehabilitated loan. Financial Aid eligibility is re-established after the loan is rehabilitated.

In order to request rehabilitation, the borrower must contact NC State University directly at student_collections@ncsu.edu.

Please note that Federal Perkins Loans may only be successfully rehabilitated one time during loan repayment.

Rehabilitation payments are due on the 1st of each month and should be sent to:

ECSI
181 Montour Run Road
Coraopolis, PA 15108

If a borrower is late or misses a payment, the 9-month rehabilitation period must be restarted. There is no grace period for late payments in the Rehabilitation program.
